Finding Fukuoka is now available on Amazon Japan (including the Kindle edition) as well as in the United States and Europe. Osaka Insider is available on Kindle via Amazon Japan and in paperback via the Amazon Japan marketplace, and also in the United States and Europe.

Customers living in Japan can also opt to buy either of my books directly and pay via PayPal in US dollars, or via a Japan Post Bank or standard bank transfer in Japanese yen. Cash payment on delivery (COD) is also possible, although an additional fee will be added for this service.

Please read the information on this page carefully before filling out the order form.  If you request an author signature and a personalized message, please indicate your desired message or general preferences in the “Requests, comments, etc.” section. If you have any questions, please send me a message using the Contact Me form (questions sent via the purchase form will not be answered).

Order Flow

The ordering process will proceed as follows:

  1. You send me an order request using the order form on page.
  2. After I have processed your order, I will send you an invoice.
  3. Please pay the invoice via PayPal or bank transfer (whichever method you originally selected) to complete the order. Once I have confirmed receipt of payment in the correct amount, I will ship the book and send you a notification of shipment. If you have selected cash on delivery (COD) as your payment, your book will be sent as soon as possible and you can pay upon receipt of the product(s).
  4. You will receive your book(s) within the indicated shipment period. If you do not receive your book(s), please contact me.

Payment Methods

Payment in US dollars can can be made via PayPal. Payment in Japanese yen can be made via a money transfer to the specified Japan Post Bank (ゆうちょ銀行) account, which is free of charge when transferred from another Japan Post Bank account, or to the specified Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (三菱東京UFJ銀行) account, which will incur an additional fee (buyers are responsible for paying these fees).

Cash on demand (COD) payment requires an additional charge of 775 yen in addition to regular shipping charges and product purchase cost.

In general, payment is expected within 5 business days (local time) after I have confirmed receipt of your order and sent an invoice. If you cannot make the payment within 5 business days, please contact me and let me know when you can.

Once I have confirmed receipt of payment in the correct amount, I will ship your order. If you have transferred an incorrect amount or I do not receive your payment within 5 business days, I will contact you again to confirm the order. Any payment in excess of the amount noted on the invoice will not be returned.

Shipping Costs, Shipping Times and Additional Charges

Standard domestic shipping cost within Japan for a single book is 350 yen. Once the order has shipped, your book(s) will arrive in approximately 2-3 business days (it may take longer for certain parts of the country). You will receive an e-mail notification when the book has been shipped.

For cash on delivery service (COD), an additional charge of 775 yen will be added to shipping charges.

Although bank transfers between Japan Post accounts are free of charge, transfers from other banks will incur additional charges (the customer is responsible for paying these). A small fee will be added for PayPal payments.

Book Availability

Because books are originally printed in the United States, one or both books may occasionally become temporarily unavailable in Japan. If this occurs, I will contact you and indicate when you can expect your order to be shipped. You may cancel your order if payment has not yet been made.

Return Policy and Cancellations

Product returns are not accepted and refunds will not be provided for books that are sent back from customers.

Orders may only be cancelled if payment has not yet been made. Payments will not be refunded once they have been received.

Availability in North America and Europe

American and European (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain) customers can purchase books through Amazon stores in their home countries. Customers in Japan or other countries may also purchase books through Amazon websites in the United States and elsewhere, but shipping charges will be higher and shipping times longer. If you live in Japan, you can purchase Finding Fukuoka (paperback or Kindle edition) through amazon Japan, the Kindle edition of Osaka Insider through Amazon Japan, or the paperback edition of Osaka Insider via Amazon Japan marketplace.
